Rangers Make Nick Tepesch Their Fifth Starter
Rick Scuteri-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers made the bullpen a priority on Tuesday by keeping left-hander Michael Kirkman in a relief role. Kirkman had been in consideration for the fifth-starter job. The Rangers will begin the season with rookie right-hander Nick Tepesch in that role. With right-hander Colby Lewis and left-hander Martin Perez expected to return from the disabled list as early as late May, Tepesch will open the season with Triple-A Round Rock and join the Rangers for a start against Tampa Bay on April 9.
