J.J. Wilcox may not have played for a premiere football school, but the Georgia Southern free safety is ready to take on the NFL.
The outgoing safety played in a pro-style defense in college, and the player he looked up to most as a child was the late Sean Taylor.
According to Wilcox, he was born to play free safety and hopes to somehow replicate the skills of his late hero.
He played mostly slot wide receiver in his first three years in school. Despite that, Wilcox made the easy transition to defense. He even got an invite to the Senior Bowl.
Not only did he get an invite, most thought he was the best free safety on the field in Mobile. Wilcox has the right size, speed and athleticism to excel at the next level.
We caught up with Wilcox at Athletes' Performance in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Check out the video above, as J.J. Wilcox tells us why he'll be a great pro in his own words.
