Every great video game series finds ways to improve the product throughout the years.

The Tiger Woods PGA Tour series, courtesy of EA Sports, has excelled in implementing various changes since the first installment came out in 1998. Otherwise, the series would be long gone in the highly competitive world of video games.

Well, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has only added to the tradition.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 comes complete with some new features that will surely raise some eyebrows. Not only has it pulled off a historic accomplishment as far as licensing goes, but it also has implemented some new variables, game modes and golfers to make it an even better gaming experience.

Here's a look at some notable new features in the latest installment from EA Sports.

Play for the Grand Slam

For the first time in video game history, you can now play all majors—the Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open and the PGA Championship.

This is undoubtedly a big development in the Tiger Woods PGA Tour series. EA Sports has received exclusive rights to hand gamers an installment that allows them to play for the Grand Slam.

So, whether you play as Tiger, Phil Mickelson or, ahem, Bobby Jones, you finally have the opportunity to make golf history...on your couch.

Oh yeah, about that Bobby Jones guy...

Go "Old School"

This is one of the coolest things about the latest installment. You can now face off with the legends of the sport, dating all the way back to the 1930s.

You start off playing against Bobby Jones and continue against such historic figures as Ben Hogan, Sam Snead, Gary Player, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and even the old-school version of Tiger himself.

It gets better, though. You not only have the option to wear attire from back in the day, but the balls, clubs and courses are also different depending on the era. So, for example, if you are playing in the 30s, balls will take awkward bounces on the course, and you won't be able to drive the ball as far or as accurately.

Greater Assortment of Golfers

EASports.com claims that you can play as or against over 20 professionals—dating from the old days to today—but Ryan McCaffrey of IGN.com notes that the latest installment actually boasts 35 licensed golfers, including female golfers from the LPGA Tour.

With more golfers, you have new styles, new looks and new ways to play the game. In a sport consisting of so many variables, it's only natural to add more variables to the mix.

Play at Any Time in Any Condition

Last but not least, you now have the option to play at any time in any conditions—morning, nighttime, sunshine, rain, sleet, snow, etc. You now control the elements, which not only adds to the visual aesthetic but also can add to the difficulty.

Make no mistake about it, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 has come to play this year. And, by the looks of things, so has Tiger himself.
