According to TCU coach Gary Patterson, Trevone Boykin is still battling Casey Pachall for the right to start at quarterback. But what if Pachall, as many assume, earns the starting nod? Where does that leave Boykin? It appears that Boykin most likely would be the clear backup, ahead of Tyler Matthews and Zach Allen. None of this would be surprising news. But when asked whether Boykin would see any time at running back, Patterson was noncommittal on the subject, perhaps only not to tip his hand as to who will start under center. “I don’t know about that,” Patterson said. “We’ll have six tailbacks in the fall. You might have two quarterbacks in the game. Right now, we’ll just see how it all works.”
