The 2013 Rookie of the Year races in Major League Baseball couldn’t have a harder act to follow.
Last year saw Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout put together one of the greatest seasons in MLB history at the age of 20, as he hit 30 bombs and stole an MLB-high 49 bases. Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper put together the greatest season ever by a 19-year-old, hitting 22 homers with 18 steals.
Trout and Harper came into the league as highly-touted prospects, and basically spoiled baseball fans rotten.
Whoever the Rookies of the Year are in 2013, odds are they won’t be quite as dazzling. Still, there are plenty of talented youngsters out there who have their eyes on contending for the awards in 2013.
MLB analyst Gabe Zaldivar and I got together to share our picks for which players are going to win Rookie of the Year awards this season, and our picks should please fans of the Minnesota Twins, Tampa Bay Rays, San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates.
