As reported on ESPN, Richard Pitino, son of future HOF Rick Pitino, will join the Florida Gator staff for next season. He's leaving Louisville, where he coached under his dad.

This is finally a bit of good news, after Calathes's jump to the NBA, the decommit of Deshawn Painter, and the transfers of forwards Alex Tyus and Allen Cheney.

Billy is very close with the Pitino family, after playing for Pitino while at Providence, and serving as an assistant coach at Kentucky. If the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, this is probably a great hire for the Gators, even though, I can only see it being short term.

He'll probably be behind the wheel of his own team, shortly.

Any thoughts?
