As the first day of the third round closes, the Sweet 16 has started to take shape. Half of the field has punched tickets already, including a few surprises. As the second day gets rolling Sunday, there are some possible matchups that any and every self-respecting basketball fan wants to see in the Sweet 16.

Here are a few possibilities that would make for some great TV, maybe not great brackets, but great TV.

FGCU vs Florida

The battle for Florida!

Florida Gulf Coast put on a ridiculous performance against No. 2 Georgetown in the second round, scoring the upset in high-flying, fast-paced action that looked more like a stop on the And-1 Mixtape Tour than an NCAA tournament game.

This isn't FGCU's first big upset of the season. The Eagles took out Miami in their second game of the season. So I guess you could say they're undefeated against elite, top-tier Florida schools this season. They could have a chance to make it 2-0 and into the Sweet 16.

That is, if they get the chance. For the Florida-Florida matchup to happen, UF will have to defeat the Minnesota Golden Gophers who have proven that they're no easy out in the tournament, already scoring one upset over UCLA.

A possible FGCU-UF matchup would be awesome because not only would it be an in-state battle, it would be exciting. If FGCU can make it out of the third round and keep playing like they did against Georgetown, their matchup with an exciting Florida team would definitely be must-see TV.

Duke vs Michigan State

Here is a matcup we all want just because of who these teams are. Duke and MSU have put on some great contests throughout the years during the Big 10-ACC Challenge. Both teams have had very solid seasons and some great potential individual matchups if their paths do indeed cross in the Sweet 16.

Who doesn't want to see Derrick Nix or Adreian Payne go toe-to-toe with Mason Plumlee? Or even Gary Harris and Keith Appling against Seth Curry and Ryan Kelly? The matchups are endless and make for some great TV—if we get to see them.

Possibly the best matchup to watch if these teams do face off, however, isn't on the court, it's on the sideline. Coach K against Tom Izzo. Two of the best college basketball coaches going head to head. That's what I'm talking about!

And we'll get it—as long as Duke can take down Creighton.

Michigan vs Kansas

This matchup would be another heavyweight battle. The Wolverines could do no wrong against Shaka Smart and the VCU Rams as they cruised to an easy victory and a spot in the Sweet 16. They've been absolutely on fire throughout their first two games.

On the other side, Kansas has yet to play their game in the field of 32 against North Carolina.

This matchup wouldn't have been as must-see in the regular season, but because Kansas only eked out a seven-point win over Western Kentucky in the second round, a matchup between a struggling No. 1 seed and a hot No. 4 seed has "great game" written all over it.

There's a lot of basketball to be played in this year's NCAA Tourney, but the way things are going, it's going to be a wild ride which will keep rolling through the Sweet 16, especially if we get a few of these awesome matchups.
