On Thursday, Mar. 21, No. 5-seeded Virginia Commonwealth outscored Akron 24-3 from behind the three-point line and easily got past No. 12-seeded the Zips 88-42 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Rams got the win with 21 points and six rebounds from Juvonte Reddic. Troy Daniels was sharp from three-point range, going six for 11 on the way to a game-high 23 points. For the Zips, Zeke Marshall finished with 11 points and five rebounds. Akron wraps up the season with a 26-7 record. The Zips got to the NCAA Tournament as the MAC champion after beating Ohio 65-46 in the conference championship. In the regular season, they finished first in the MAC with a 14-2 conference record. Virginia Commonwealth (27-8, 12-4 A-10) takes on No. 4-seeded Michigan (27-7, 12-6 Big Ten) in the third round on Saturday, Mar. 23.
