Liverpool Transfer Rumors: 5 Biggest Names Linked with Summer Moves

0 of 5

According to The Telegraph, Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to bring in some fresh talent to Merseyside over the summer transfer window.

The Reds will be aiming to boost their squad for the years ahead, and have been linked with plenty of big names over the past few days as a result.

However, like with any club, players are also rumored to be leaving Anfield at the end of the year. Whether that actually happens or not is another story, but the reality is that the Reds are likely to see movers in and out of Merseyside this summer.

Read on to see the biggest names linked with summer moves this year.

Luis Suarez, Liverpool

The club has denied any interest in offloading the star striker, but Luis Suarez is still being linked with an exit from Anfield ahead of the summer transfer window.

These rumors are understandable, given his recent comments about his potential future at the club. The Uruguayan hasn't exactly inspired confidence concerning his long-term future at the club.

    Per The Telegraph:

I am very happy at Liverpool, but you never know in football.

But if another team comes around with more prospects of competing in international club competition games, which is willing to have me, they are welcome. We would talk to the club, we would see if I want to go, if I don’t want to go.

Suarez is under contract at Liverpool until 2017, and the club have denied all reports of the striker being offloaded to anywhere over the summer transfer window.

Dede, Vasco Da Gama

Liverpool are believed to be interested in Vasco da Gama defender Dede, who will likely leave the Brazilian outfit over the summer, according to The Mirror.

The cash-strapped club is reportedly likely to part ways with their talented 24-year-old after suffering serious financial problems. Considering the talent that the Brazilian has displayed during his career so far, this could be great news for the Reds—if they are to land him.

Manchester United, Juventus and Benfica are all thought to be interested.

Marco Verratti, Paris Saint-Germain

According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are tracking Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti and are interested in making a move this summer. The 20-year-old is a highly sought-after prospect who has excelled in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League this season.

PSG are reportedly asking around £30 million for his services, which makes a move to Anfield somewhat unlikely. Manchester United and Real Madrid are both thought to be interested in Verratti as well, who is touted as a potential replacement for Xabi Alonso for Los Blancos.

Raheem Sterling, Liverpool

Having lost his instant starting place in the Reds' lineup due to the arrivals of Philippe Coutinho and Daniel Sturridge, some interesting rumors appeared during the week concerning potential loan deals for Raheem Sterling.

Leeds, Cardiff and Bolton were all thought to be interested in a summer loan deal for the talented 18-year-old, who has impressed greatly in his career so far. However, according to The Mirror, those moves have been rebuffed by Brendan Rodgers, who is not willing to loan out the rising star.

He is, however, prepared to let Suso leave on loan this summer—alerting prospective "bidders" that the 19-year-old midfielder will be available.

Ashley Williams, Swansea City

5 of 5

Swansea City defender and captain Ashley Williams has been touted as a potential replacement for Jamie Carragher.

    Per The Liverpool Echo:

Securing the services of a dominant centre-back is the club’s overriding priority in the next transfer window and Williams tops their shortlist.

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup faces a battle to keep hold of Williams, who recently captained the Welsh outfit to League Cup glory at Wembley.

Rodgers worked with the 28-year-old during his two years in charge of the Swans and believes he has all the qualities required to succeed at Anfield. The hope is that Williams will provide similar attributes with the defender, who joined Swansea from Stockport County in 2008, also strong in the air and comfortable in possession.

The Welsh international is under contract at Liverpool until 2015.
