Henry Blanco Finally Reunited with R.A. Dickey

Veteran Henry Blanco, bidding for the backup catcher’s job, had not caught knuckleballer R.A. Dickey since 2010 when he played for the Mets. On Tuesday, he and Dickey teamed up for the first time this spring as Dickey pitched against minor-leaguers. Gibbons made the trip to the minor-league complex expressly to watch Blanco in action. He was pleased with what he saw, although he refused to say whether Blanco has the edge over Josh Thole for a roster spot. Dickey called the 41-year-old Blanco “a pro’s pro.”
