PEORIA, Ariz. — Carlos Quentin played left field Wednesday in a third straight minor league start and declared himself closer to playing in a major league exhibition as well as getting on a schedule that would place him in the Padres’ Opening Day lineup. “I still believe I have that opportunity to be ready,” Quentin said about his availability for the April 1 season opener against the Mets in New York.
