Latest on Chris Jericho's WrestleMania Opponent
WWE Raw did a good job solidifying the suspected feuds of Ryback vs. Mark Henry and Team Hell No vs. Dolph Ziggler/Big E. Langston. It also pretty much cemented that The Shield's opponents will be Randy Orton, Sheamus and Big Show for WrestleMania.
The triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship was spectacular, and was undoubtedly a WrestleMania-caliber match. Barrett picked up the win, retained the IC title, and the victory helped his career get back on a positive swing.
From the Wade Barrett roll-up, it seems as if we will see a decent but lesser-quality match between he and Miz at WM for the title.
So where does this leave Chris Jericho?
We've previously heard possibilities of Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Mark Henry. Now its appears (h/t WrestlingInc.com) that the direction the WWE is going is none other than...
As seen on Raw, Jericho was being interviewed by Josh Mathews when he was suddenly interrupted by Fandango. Being the witty person that Jericho is, he created a rather hilarious moment—similar to the old "Ayatollah" days—by creating multiple variations of Fandango's name.
Based on the selflessness Jericho often exhibits, it seems that he will give Fandango a quality win right out of the gate by putting him over at WrestleMania XXIX. While this would not be a terrible idea for a minor pay-per-view, placing this feud on the biggest wrestling event of the year is not a good idea whatsoever.
The Fandango character is staring to get some decent heat. His refusal to compete is a good addition and garners the reaction that is desired of his gimmick. However, by no means is he ready to establish his name at WrestleMania at the expense of someone the likes of Chris Jericho—especially if his character flops soon after.
If they do go forward with this, a Chris Jericho win against Fandango at WrestleMania would help his character simply because he has the enviable position of competing against one of the best wrestlers ever in a singles match at Wrestlemania.
Hopefully, there will be a change of plans. However, seeing how WrestleMania is less than three weeks away, that appears unlikely.
As a result, we will probably see six-time world champion and nine-time Intercontinental Champion Chris Jericho fall victim to Fandango.
Don't forget to let the As breathe.
