Manchester United will likely head into the summer transfer window as the Premier League champions, having stormed their way to victory in 2013.
The arrival of Robin van Persie to the Red Devils over the previous summer transfer window will likely have been the difference in United's title-winning season, so expect the English giants to again be an active force over the transfer window this year.
However, according to the latest reports, the focus for the Red Devils could be on offloading players this summer, with several big names touted as possible departures.
Obviously some players will leave at the end of the year, like every year, but the bigger question remains as to who is most likely to leave Old Trafford in 2013.
Read on and find out.
3. Javier Hernandez
Hernandez has been a great option for Sir Alex Ferguson to turn to off the bench this season, but it does seem unlikely that the striker will remain with United.
After all, the club do have Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Danny Welbeck in their lineup—all of which offer something unique to the Red Devils' attack.
The same, however, cannot be said for Hernandez, who despite being a world-class striker, is no different than having Van Persie at the top of the attack, and could well see a move away this summer as interest in him grows around the world.
The 24-year-old has a strong future ahead of him and would command a very appealing transfer fee—something that United would struggle to turn down.
Having purchased him for £17 million almost six years ago, United no doubt wanted to see a return on their money with midfielder Anderson. Yet unfortunately for them and the midfielder, those performances simply haven't been forthcoming and he could depart in the summer as a result.
Like Hernandez, the 24-year-old would attract a solid transfer fee and would be a great addition for teams looking to add in a versatile, solid midfielder.
United already have plenty of midfielders available that are seemingly higher in the pecking order than Anderson, and with a new central midfielder to replace Michael Carrick and Paul Scholes eventually forthcoming, it seems that United will likely part ways with the midfielder.
A return back to Portugal could be on the cards for the Brazilian.
As good as the winger has been at times this season, Nani is still the most likely player to depart from Old Trafford this season as his contract expiration date looms.
The Portuguese international is yet to sign a new contract, and will leave for nothing in 2014 if United cannot get a new deal together with him. And seeing that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon, the Red Devils could well look to sell off the 26-year-old this summer.
United already have Antonio Valencia and Ashley Young as their regular wingers, and have utilized Rooney, Shinji Kagawa and Welbeck all out wide at times this year as well. Also accounting for Wilfried Zaha's arrival in the transfer window from Crystal Palace, it seems unlikely that Nani is going to receive a lot of game time next season and isn't really needed by United.
Without a contract and not really needed, Nani will surely leave in the summer.
