College Basketball Analyst Jay Bilas Predicts Which No. 1 Seed Will Lose First
The University of Louisville is the No. 1 overall seed but has arguably the most difficult path to the Final Four. With a potential Oklahoma State or Saint Louis Sweet 16 matchup, it will be a dogfight to make it to the Elite Eight. The Cardinals will have no time to breathe if they advance, with either Michigan State or Duke likely awaiting them.
The Kansas Jayhawks look to make a Final Four run for the second consecutive year. Look out for Shaka Smart’s VCU Rams to get in their way, though, just as they did as an 11th seed in the 2011 NCAA Elite Eight game.
In the Sweet 16, Indiana could match up with a Syracuse team that looked to be turning the corner on a late-season slump before falling to Louisville in the Big East Tournament final. A potential Elite Eight matchup pits the Hoosiers against the Miami Hurricanes, who won both the ACC regular-season and tournament championships.
The Gonzaga Bulldogs are on upset alert. With probably the easiest region in the tournament, people just aren’t sure if the Bulldogs are the real deal. The Zags will have a tough opponent in either Pittsburgh or Wichita State in the third round. If they can make it to the Elite Eight, they could have their hands full with an Ohio State matchup.
I sat with expert college basketball analyst Jay Bilas to predict which of the No. 1 seeds will be making an early exit.
