DDP and Fans Succeed in Raising Funds for Scott Hall

About a week ago, I wrote an article about Diamond Dallas Page and what he was doing for Scott Hall.

The article mentioned how DDP had helped set up a website to collect funds on behalf of Hall. All of the money raised was going to be used for the benefit of Hall's process of recovery; they included a hip replacement, dental work and ongoing rehabilitation.

With 21 days left to raise funds, they have already collected $81,880. Upon hearing the news that the goal had been reached, DDP made a video response. The response can be seen below. DDP and others also took to Twitter to celebrate.

The fact that they were able to raise this money is amazing, and it's truly inspiring to see people pull together and give to someone who needed help.

In my opinion though, this was never about the money.

Think about this for a second. Chances are DDP made a fair amount of money in his career and he seems like a smart guy. Generally speaking, smart people handle their money well. On top of that, he currently has his yoga thing going, which by all accounts seems to be going very well. If DDP was willing to let Hall into his home and spearhead his recovery, would he really let $80,000 stop him from making Hall whole again?

The answer is simply no. But that is okay because this was never about the money. This was about showing Hall that people cared. In the video in my previous article, Hall is seen tweeting for the first time. He is legitimately shocked that people care enough about him to interact with him on Twitter. It has to be a daunting task to try to save a man that by his own account doesn't think he is worth saving. This fundraiser and the support that Hall received let him know that there are a lot of people out there pulling for him.

Reaching this goal is a great accomplishment. The funds raised will probably go a long way in putting Hall back together physically. The lasting affect, though, is going to be what this fundraiser does for Hall mentally. Hopefully, this is the wake up call that he needed to get himself right.

Like I said before, everyone loves a good comeback story. And this story seems to have just begun.
