UFC 158 Results: 5 Fights for Carlos Condit to Take Next

1 of 6

Carlos Condit is a top welterweight in the world of MMA but found himself on the wrong end of a unanimous decision at UFC 158 against Johny Hendricks. That loss kicked him out of the welterweight title picture, which means he will need to put together some intriguing wins to get back into the 170-pound spotlight.

Condit is now on a two-fight skid, losing a welterweight title bid to Georges St-Pierre and last night's top-contender fight to Hendricks. He is not at risk of getting fired by the UFC, but the losses are detrimental to his attempts at gaining gold.

Here are five fights Condit should take moving forward.

Nate Marquardt

2 of 6

Another welterweight who took a loss on the UFC 158 main card was Nate Marquardt. "The Great" lasted just three minutes against Jake Ellenberger, suffering a nasty knockout loss at the hands of "The Juggernaut."

Nate is a well-rounded fighter, but is also on a two-fight skid. He would match up against Carlos Condit very well in every aspect of a fight.

Both men are in dire need of a win. Putting them in the cage against each other could bring out the best in Condit and Marquardt.

Martin Kampmann

3 of 6

Carlos Condit lost to Martin Kampmann back in the day via decision. It was a close fight, but Condit deserves a shot at redemption.

Both men are strikers and could put on a great main event on a FX or Fuel TV card. It would be an exciting bout that fans would appreciate.

Book this fight. The rematch could draw big numbers, as both men are exciting fighters with top-notch skills.

Rory MacDonald

4 of 6

Carlos Condit's original UFC 158 opponent was Rory MacDonald, the training partner of Georges St-Pierre. That would be a good fight moving forward for both men.

MacDonald is a well-rounded guy who is a top-10 fighter in the welterweight division. He is another guy who has fought Condit in the past but failed despite dominating a majority of the fight (Condit won via TKO).

This would be an important fight for both men, especially MacDonald. For him, it's a shot at redemption.

Jordan Mein

5 of 6

Young gun Jordan Mein impressed beyond belief last night when he became the first man to stop Dan Miller in his MMA career. A feat like that should be recognized.

The young Strikeforce import has proven he can knock off high-level guys, so a bout with Carlos Condit would be a great test. Condit has the well-rounded skills to really show if Mein a contender or a pretender.

That fight has all the makings of a Fight of the Night bout.

Josh Koscheck

6 of 6

Josh Koscheck is a long-time contender at 170 pounds. Carlos Condit is similar in that aspect.

Koscheck has great wrestling, but uses his power striking in fights to make things exciting. His loss recently to Robbie Lawler means he needs to get back on his feet against another guy who has recently lost.

Condit is a guy who could fit that bill. He is good off his back and could entertain Koscheck on the feet.

    This fight could be gold.
