Wrestling is all about gimmicks, unless you're Lance Storm. But even his gimmick eventually became as bland as he was.

It's a character-driven product. Just as in a movie or theatrical play—someone is coming up with these characters and there is going to be human error. Not every gimmick is going to be a winner.

It's trial and error. Especially in front of a live audience. You don't have private screenings or screen tests. If you need to test a character in the professional wrestling world, then you send him to the ring and see what happens.

Whether it's been entertaining or pathetic, WWE has come up with some silly gimmicks over the years.
