Creative Ideas to Get More MLB Superstars into the World Baseball Classic

The World Baseball Classic is supposed to be a collection of great players playing the world’s greatest game, and it sells itself as such.

There’s just one problem: The WBC is lacking in the “great players” department.

The problem is particularly noticeable when looking at Team USA’s roster. There are plenty of big names, but the pitching staff does not feature the likes of Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw or David Price. The other portion of roster does not feature King of All Things Awesome, Mike Trout.

Other stars sitting out the WBC include Venezuelan right-hander Felix Hernandez, Japanese righty Yu Darvish, and Dominican Republic stars David Ortiz, Jose Bautista, Albert Pujols and Adrian Beltre.

If there were easy solutions to this dilemma, it would have been solved by now. Thus, what the WBC needs is a few creative solutions. I and B/R Pop Culture Lead Writer Gabe Zaldivar took a whack at coming up with a few, and our ramblings were caught on video.
