Phillies Defeat Pirates, 2-1, in Grapefruit League Game at Bright House Field
Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Aaron Cook took advantage of a starting opportunity to prove he might deserve a spot among the Phillies’ relievers. Cook pitched three shut out innings and Pete Orr's homer lifted Philadelphia to a 2 - 1 win against the Pirates at a soldout Bright House Field on Thursday afternoon. The Phillies let regular starter Kyle Kendrick pitch a minor league game, so that the team could take a closer look at bullpen options. Cook, a long relief option, gave up one hit and walk. Kendrick pitched well in his minor league start. He went five innings, allowing two unearned runs on four hits and a walk.
