From a horrendous lockout that left everyone wondering why the NHL wasn't playing hockey to the Chicago Blackhawks' incredible streak, it's been a whirlwind two-and-a-half-month stretch for fans.

I, for one, am glad that hockey is back, and it's been great to focus on the game and not the business behind it.

The first half has seen incredible play from the league's youngest stars like Steven Stamkos, Patrick Kane and Sidney Crosby.

So, at the midpoint of the 2013 NHL season, we ponder who's been the best in their respective categories—coach, rookie, most valuable player and goalie.

Bleacher Report NHL Contributor Casey DeMarco and I debate which players (and coaches) would win these awards if the season ended now. Good thing for others that there are another 24 games or so to join the conversation.
