Metta World Peace interrupted Dwight Howard's moment with reporters on Tuesday with the confidence and bravado of a man with a plan. He subsequently botched a shout out to his own Twitter account.
If you are scoring at home, the Lakers' season has gone from dreadful to pleasantly bizarre.
Kobe Bryant is dunking like a spry 18-year-old, the team is holding onto renewed hope for a playoff spot and they are now about to embark on a homecoming game of sorts for Dwight Howard.
What the moment really needed was a little more Metta World Peace.
The Basketball Jones spotted the wonderful video when one teammate tried his best to diffuse the pressure that comes with a throng of reporters.
They also point us to this section of Dave McMenamin's report to give us exactly what MWP stated.
“My Twitter’s @mettaworldpeace.com,” World Peace gladly announced to the throng of media, mixing up his Twitter handle and website in one breath. “Follow me on Twitter, follow Dwight. I need a million followers.”
Of course, Howard is heading into a Tuesday night game in which we can expect a somewhat healthy dose of boos and jeers.
We applaud World Peace for being a great teammate by trying to bring some levity to the situation. At the same time, we give the man a standing ovation for confusing his very own handle and website.
The Lakers season, where anything can and will happen.
