Arnold Leon, who started Mexico’s brawl with Team Canada on Saturday when he hit Canada’s Rene Tosoni, was sent to the minors today, and after the A’s minor-leaguers came off the field this morning, he said that he had not been aware of the World Baseball Classic tie-breaking rules. The WBC uses run differential as a tie-breaker for teams to advance, so running up the score is, in theory, to be overlooked in those games, unlike in the big leagues, where piling it on earns you a quick plunking.
