As the current tenth seed in the Western Conference, the Blazers will need a huge win against one of the league's best in order to keep pace for one of this year's final playoff spots.
Damian Lillard will be one of the key players for the Blazers on Friday and will need to come up big to force an upset. Here are three things Lillard must do to help his team come away with a victory.
Attack the Basket
Lillard has been one of the top point guards in the league at getting to the basket and must continue this attack on Friday. At just 6'3", Lillard must look to use his quickness to create an advantage for his squad. With Tony Parker expected to be out for Friday's game, Lillard should have no problem of owning the point guard matchup. Look for Lillard to exert himself more on offense and keep the pressure on the Spurs with his penetration.
Keep His Turnovers Down
If there is one facet of the game Lillard must make a conscious effort of controlling, it is his turnovers. The Spurs are one of the league's most efficient offenses and they don't need any extra possessions. Lillard and the Blazers as a whole must value each possession and take care of the ball. If Lillard can keep his turnovers under his season average of 3.0, the Blazers could very well take home the victory.
Continue His Efficient Scoring
In the two contests between the two teams earlier this season, Lillard was able to assert himself on offense, averaging 24.5 points per game. In these games combined, Lillard was also efficient as he knocked down 50 percent of his total shots. Lillard must put together another great scoring performance and be efficient for his squad if they want to get this huge road victory.
