VIERA, Fla. – The Cardinals moved to lock up a key piece of their young core Friday, agreeing to a five-year contract extension worth $31 million with first baseman Allen Craig.
Craig also gets a club option for a sixth year in 2018. The deal comes as a cost-saving deal for the Cardinals and financial security for Craig, who wasn't even eligible for arbitration until next season.
