TNA Impact! Wrestling Recap: Final Lockdown Pay-Per-View Hype

Impact! Wrestling, which aired for the final time in Orlando, Florida, began with a video package recapping the latest twist of events and hyping its Lockdown pay-per-view.

Kurt Angle is shown backstage, expressing his frustration on the newest member of Aces and Eights.

Austin Aries arrives to the ring to open the show. Aries began to talk about Bully Ray, telling him that he will prove him wrong by recapturing the TNA World Heavyweight title.

The former World heavyweight champion called out Jeff Hardy to the ring for a match.

Match No. 1: Austin Aries vs. Jeff Hardy

No contest match.

As Hardy was about to go for the victory, Matt Morgan jumped into the ring and delivered a boot to the champion's face. Ray stormed to ringside to save Hardy from the attack by Morgan. A solid opening match that helped the show get off to a good start.

Hardy and Aries continue to display quality matches.

Match Rating: 3.5/5.

 

Sting is backstage talking to Magnus, Samoa Joe and Eric Young, as he provides a prep talk before their match at Lockdown.

Wes Briscoe emerges from the backstage area to the ring. Briscoe discusses about how he idealized Angle growing up.

However, Briscoe began to talk about Angle, calling him a worthless figure. Angle interrupts Briscoe, telling him he doesn't respect the wrestling business. As the two of them began to brawl in the ring, TNA management attempted to break up the fight.

In a shocking turn of events, D-Lo Brown suddenly attacked Angle and the rest of TNA management. Brown announces that he is the Vice President of Aces and Eights.

Match No. 2: Devon vs. Sting

Your winner via pin fall: Devon.

In order for Aces and Eights to be a serious threat, a victory by Devon was needed for the heel faction. However, Devon earned a cheap victory with the aid of a fan at ringside who hit Sting with a beer bottle. There was nothing spectacular about this match but it did its job giving Aces and Eights an upper hand.

Match Rating: 3/5.

 

Backstage, the TNA Gut Check judges discuss about last week's contestants. Bruce Prichard reveals Lei'D Tapa will come out to the ring later on Impact! Wrestling.

 

Match No. 3: Chavo Guerrero, Hernandez and Velvet Sky vs. Christopher Daniels, Kazarian and Gail Kim

Your winners via pin fall: Christopher Daniels, Kazarian and Gail Kim.

A basic mix tag team match with the battle intensifying towards the tail end of it.

Match Rating: 3/5.

 

A new video package is shown providing another update on AJ Styles.

 

Match No. 4: Doc and Garrett Bischoff vs. Magnus and Samoa Joe

Your winner via pin fall: Magnus and Samoa Joe.

Magnus and Joe certainly had no ring rust as they reunited as a tag team against Doc and Bischoff. Despite a slower start, the match picked up quite nicely.

TNA announcer Jeremy Borash introduced Tapa to the ring. Despite a strong negative reaction from the crowd, the Gut Check judges awarded her a TNA contract.

 

Match No. 5: Mr. Anderson vs. James Storm

Your winner via pin fall: Mr. Anderson.

With the victory, Aces and Eights earn the numbers advantage at Lockdown against Team TNA. A pretty short main event that ended with both groups in a stare down by ringside.

Match Rating: 3/5.

 

At the center of the ring, Ray and Hardy strongly hype their World Heavyweight title match at Lockdown. Ray tells Hardy he is proud of Hardy and how his comeback to TNA was an inspiring story.

Hardy took control of the microphone and thanks Ray for his support. Ray expresses that he will defeat Hardy at Lockdown.

Suddenly, Hulk Hogan comes out to the entrance way in crutches and gives his approval to Hardy and Ray. A brawl erupts between Aces and Eights and Team TNA before Impact! Wrestling fades to black.
