The competition at second base hasn't been quite as heated as the A's would have liked it in the first dozen games of the spring, including Thursday's 7-3 win over the Mariners. It hasn't been so much lack of performance — the five-headed A's second base monster comes into Saturday's rematch with Seattle in Peoria with a cumulative .353 (24-for-68) average — as it has been injuries.
