WWE Main Event took place in Albany, New York, at the Times Union Center and the featured match was between Randy Orton and Intercontinental champion, Wade Barrett.

Also taking to the ring was Cody Rhodes to do battle with Zack Ryder, while Sin Cara took on Antonio Cesaro in the final match of the event.

Let's take a look at a recap for each of these matches and what Twitter had to say about the Wednesday night show.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett (non-title match)

Barrett started off the evening by running his mouth about his new movie "Dead Man Down" and how he was "hob-knobbing" with the Hollywood elite. We then had to sit through a promo of the movie.

After Barrett talked some more, he was interrupted by Orton who hit him from behind and the match began.

Orton gained the advantage early on by stomping out the Intercontinental champion, but failed to score an early pinfall attempt. Orton continued to control the match until Barrett kicked a charging Orton in the face on the turnbuckle.

That didn't last long, however, as Orton regained his poise and kept beating Barrett down. Barrett had no choice but to buy himself some time by rolling out of the ring.

Barrett would recover nicely and began his own beatdown of Orton that started outside of the ring and continued on the inside. The tide once against changed after Barrett took too long to complete his move off the turnbuckle and Orton capitalized with a suplex.

After some more back and forth, Barrett nearly scored a fall after a kick to the face, but Orton went on to land the RKO after Barrett failed to land his finishing move and that was all she wrote for the Intercontinental champion.

Cody Rhodes vs. Zack Ryder

This match was a back-and-forth contest for much of the beginning with some power and high-flying moves on full display.

Things turned bad for Ryder after he missed his patented boot on the turnbuckle and ended up injuring the family jewels instead. Rhodes capitalized by landing his own move on Ryder on the turnbuckle and then hit his opponent with the Crossroads to seal the deal in what was a relatively quick match.

Sin Cara vs. Antonio Cesaro

Cara landed two head scissors early on in the match and after Cesaro re-entered the ring, he was met with a sunset flip from Cara. Cesaro quickly took control, but Cara regained his advantage with a superkick and followed that up with his sunset flip/power bomb maneuver.

Cara attempted to land a dive, but Cesaro met him with an uppercut. Cesaro then went for a super Neutralizer, but Cara was able to pull off a reverse into a ranna for the win.

Twitter Reaction

WWE Axxess wasn't exactly thrilled about Orton and Barrett pairing up once again:

Still, despite this matchup being fairly stale, the duo almost always puts on a good show in the ring and did so once again on Wednesday.

This fan—and pretty much everyone else—knew exactly what was going to happen when Ryder got matched up with Cody Rhodes:

Then Cara knocked off Cesaro in a absolutely massive upset, and the Twitter world went wild. Judging by the exclamation marks, this fan was certainly excited:

This one, however, not so much:

Make sure to let us know what you think about the shocking finale from Wednesday night's show.
