FORT MYERS — Jon Lester’s scoreless spring came to an end, but the Red Sox left-hander went four innings in his third start of the spring. It wasn’t as strong of an effort as his first two starts, but Lester still limited the Pirates to just one run on two hits and three walks on the afternoon. He struck out three. Lester, a focal point as far as the Sox’ fortunes this season are concerned, has now thrown nine innings while allowing three hits and four walks. He has struck out six.
