Why Chris Paul Is the Best Point Guard in the NBA
Chris Paul is the best point guard in the NBA.
Some might argue that Steve Nash, Jason Kidd, Deron Williams, or Allen Iverson are better, but that is not so.
He leads the NBA in assists with 11.4 and is the leader of one of the top teams in the very difficult Western Conference.
Chris Paul is ahead of all of those people in assists per game, least amount of turnovers per game, and steals per game. He is averaging 2.5 turnovers per game. Steve Nash is averaging 3.8 turnovers a game, Deron Williams 3.5, Allen Iverson 3.0, and Jason Kidd 3.5. At least a whole .5 turnovers a game less than anyone of the other famous point guards. He is also way ahead of them in assist to turnover ratio with 4.59 assists per turnover.
Chris also leads the league in steals per game with 2.7 a game. That is .32 more than any other player(Baron Davis is second with 2.38). Jason Kidd has 1.66 a game, Allen Iverson 1.92 a game, Deron Williams 1.08, and Steve Nash only averages 0.64 a game.
He is also tied with Deron Williams for first of all the guards for double-doubles with 47. He leads the league in many statistical categories, while also being the best player on one of the top five teams in the league.
He is the leading MVP candidate behind Kobe, and this is only his third year in the league! In my mind, there's no question he is the best point guard right now, and if not now, will definitely be the best for years to come.
And besides, are there any other point guards in the running for MVP? Nope.
Unless he has a bad injury in the future (knock on wood), he will be one of the best point guards to ever play the game.
