TAMPA, Fla. – It was a few minutes past 10 p.m. when Brian Cashman left Steinbrenner Field. He rode on a golf cart, with his fractured right fibula swaddled in a cast and raised into the air. About an hour before, he had insisted he felt no pain in his busted leg. He hadn’t needed any pain medication. Those days appeared numbered. “I’m starting to feel it,” he quipped, as the cart headed for the stadium’s exit.
