CM Punk Is Not Just a Wrestlemania Filler for Undertaker

There isn't a lot of faith in CM Punk right now.

On the special Old School edition of Monday Night Raw this week, we saw the former the Chicago native defeat Big Show, Randy Orton and Sheamus, all three of whom have been champions in WWE at one point or another, in a fatal four-way match.

The prize, which was won by CM Punk, was a highly coveted big profile match against the Undertaker at Wrestlemania 29, where his legendary undefeated streak will be on the line once again.

Despite proving himself as one of the best performers in the entire business, CM Punk isn't being given much of a chance here. Very few people feel that he can be the one to topple the Undertaker and end his streak, even though the outcome is predetermined.

To many of these fans, you could have easily substituted a dozen other performers in WWE into the slot at Wrestlemania 29, and it would not have made a difference. Some cite a lack of options as to why CM Punk was chosen for what should normally be considered an honor.

There's even a handful of people that believe that John Cena, who is currently occupied in a big money rematch against The Rock, is the only viable option as an opponent for the Undertaker. That opinion makes it seem like CM Punk is actually a notch below Cena.

The fact of the matter is that this is not a filler match. It's a high profile match that deserves the "co-main event" status, even if Wrestlemania 29 already includes Triple H vs Brock Lesnar (a sure thing to happen) and Rock vs John Cena.

CM Punk is a professional, and he's going to walk to the center of that ring in hopes of stealing the show. He wants to put on the best performance of the night, something which Triple H and John Cena are going to be fighting for as well that evening.

The Straight Edge Superstar even wants to have the best Wrestlemania match of all time with Undertaker. He's heard people praising the bout that Shawn Michaels had, and he would love nothing more than to surpass that performance.

He also has a chance to win and end the Wrestlemania winning streak.

This is far from being a filler match.
