There has been recent speculation that this trade might be closer then we all thought. According to ESPN, the Atlanta Falcons may trade their second-round pick for TE Tony Gonzalez.
This article is not saying that this trade is going through, but I am bringing this to people's attention. I will, however, give you some thoughts on the subject.
1. This could put the Atlanta Falcons over the top on offense.
2. Although it appears to be going against the "process," it is in fact what the process is all about. You see, if the Falcons acquire Gonzalez, it could help the "process" by developing the younger talent.
3. The Kansas City Chiefs, Tony's current team, would be able to continue to rebuild their roster with a very decent pick while getting rid of a player who could become a problem if they do not win.
4. Atlanta would heavily consider drafting a tight end in the second round anyway, so why not trade for a Hall of Famer?
The bottom line is that both teams win with this trade, Atlanta completing their offense and the Chiefs continuing their development. I am all for it.
