The question about WrestleMania 29's main event is not how the WWE Championship match will end, but how much fans can enjoy the ride knowing full well who will leave MetLife Stadium the winner.
WWE appears to be set on having John Cena win the WWE title for the 11th time.
A Cena win gives him revenge for his WrestleMania 28 loss to The Rock. It gives the golden boy back his mojo. It allows him to end his lengthy titleless stretch. It is the climax fans can see coming.
The Rock is not scheduled for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
F4WOnline (via WrestleZone.com) reports that The Rock will be filming his movie Hercules instead of competing at Extreme Rules. In all likelihood, this means that The Rock's latest WWE run is over and Hollywood will soon have its tattooed action star back for awhile.
This peek into WWE's future schedule is the strongest hint that Cena will take the title from him.
Cena vs. The Rock was the expected WrestleMania rematch. Having Cena come out the victor is the least surprising, but completely understandable outcome.
Twice in a Lifetime won't have the benefit of the unexpected, but the match can still thrill fans.
Movie goers knew how Lincoln was going to end. It was still a good movie. Titanic also created drama in spite of its ending lacking surprise.
The Cena vs. Rock rematch is going to have to do the same as those films.
WWE's two biggest names clash on its biggest night and one of those won't be sticking around forever.
Cena is going to be crowned again and again. The immensity of his fan base and his ability to shine when the spotlight is the brightest makes him an ideal champ in WWE's eyes.
It appears it's time once again for Cena to raise the gold above his head and proclaim, "The champ is here!" Imagine if the NBA could choose who to put in the NBA Finals.
The Lakers and Celtics wouldn't go long without facing each other for it all.
It's been too long for Cena to be without a championship. WWE is likely itching to get some gold back on him. The Rock's part-time status makes him a likely victim to Cena.
WWE fans knew The Rock's stay wouldn't be an extended one and that goes double for his title reign. Having him electrify us for this long has been awesome.
Rock isn't going to stay champion for 434 days though.
He has a second career awaiting him. While The Rock's love for pro wrestling will seemingly bring him back again, fans will have to make do with sporadic showings from The Great One.
WrestleMania is the perfect time for him to pass along the belt, for WWE's king to retake his crown.
The biggest legends seem to prefer to do their losing at The Showcase of the Immortals.
Ric Flair and Shawn Michaels made their exit by way of WrestleMania loss. The Rock's stature begs to have his title loss be at an event of WrestleMania's proportions.
WWE is going to have to work to create WrestleMania 29's potential classic without surprise in its toolbox. It sure looks like Cena will leave WrestleMania 29 in a far better mood than he did after WrestleMania 28.
WWE will do its best to have fans end the night just as happy, expected outcome or not.
