At a club like Barcelona, the rumor mill is always spinning. Though the summer way be a while away, the current form of the Catalan club has countless players being pegged as the next star to move to Barcelona.
Some names are standard in the Blaugrana news, but a few surprises have now come up. Fans are clearly ready to see what moves will be made, and no one can blame them.
In this article, we will take a look at the five latest names rumored to be heading to the Camp Nou.
We will begin by getting the most overused story out of the way. It is no secret that Barcelona has been pursuing Neymar for quite some time, but recent rumors suggest he is absolutely on his way.
James Dickenson of Express recently claimed that Neymar was inching very close to his high-profile move to Barcelona. Surprisingly, as soon as this story hit the news it was none other than Brazilian legend Pele who stated that Neymar must make the switch to Barcelona (via Independent).
The Independent also released a report from an interview with Dani Alves where the right-back admitted that he has been trying to get Neymar to come to Barcelona for years.
His work may have finally paid off as talkSPORT also released its own rumored interview with Alves. In this interview, the Brazilian stated that Neymar had finally agreed to the move.
One thing is certain. Barcelona needs another scorer now that teams appear to have finally found the answer against La Blaugrana. Neymar could be the answer to that problem.
Last month Italian rumors broke that Barcelona was interested in signing Roma defender, Marquinhos. Not many fans thought much of it, but the move may have finally caught some steam.
New reports from Express claim that Barcelona has already put an offer on the table for the young defender, but that the bid has been rejected.
If these reports are true, it would seem that Marquinhos is the first choice defender that Barcelona wants to bring in.
The young Brazilian has been solid in defense in his 20 plus appearances. No doubt he has the talent to become a star, but fans aren’t quite sure if he is ready for a club the size of Barcelona.
Quite possibly the most shocking player being linked with a move to the Camp Nou is Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.
The Independent recently released an interview with Dani Alves where the Brazilian stated that Wilshere should join the Catalans. The move would seem very unlikely, but it no doubt has fans interested.
In a different interview with The Daily Mail, Alves claimed that Wilshere could be the next Xavi or Iniesta.
Of course, making that comparison is a bit overdramatic, but who knows how the attacker could truly fit in at La Balugrana. This rumor certainly seems like one that just isn't true, but fans will be eating it up regardless.
Barcelona has a tough task ahead of them in trying to find a replacement for Victor Valdes. The Catalan club has already begun their search, and some big names have turned up.
The Mirror has reported that one of the front-runners to replace Valdes is none other than Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris.
Lloris is an exceptional keeper that would certainly fit in nicely with Barcelona. After making an £8 million move to Tottenham over the summer, there is no word yet on what he would cost the Catalans.
Lloris is not the only keeper being looked at, however. The same report also gave the names of both Pepe Reina and David De Gea as sought after replacements for Victor Valdes.
The most recent name to come back into the Barcelona rumor mill is Thomas Vermaelen.
The Arsenal defender has long been on Barcelona’s radar and may be the next Gunner to make the switch to the Camp Nou. La Blaugrana is in desperate need of a defender and they believe Vermaelen may fit the bill.
Vermaelen was reportedly linked to Barcelona by The Mirror.
According to the report, Vermaelen has already been scouted and pegged as one of the top choices in their pursuit of a new defender. Arsene Wenger will have his hands full this summer trying to hold on to the Belgian star.
However, with all the possible defenders that the Catalans could bring in, do not expect Vermaelen to put on the Blaugrana jersey next season. This transfer rumor holds truth, but it is not one that will come to fruition.
