When Alexis Sanchez signed with FC Barcelona during the 2011 Transfer Window, there were high expectations from the Chilean forward. The high expectations came with the transfer fee of €37.5 million or $48.8 million after negotiations between Barca and Udinese.
Unfortunately, Sanchez did not live up to the expectations of Barca supporters during the 2012-13 season. Recently, David Cartlidge of The Mirror published an article about Sanchez possibly signing with Manchester City or Liverpool this summer.
Romeo Agresti of Goal.com reported that Juventus expressed an interest in signing Sanchez this summer. Why should Sanchez leave La Blaugrana and La Liga for other clubs and leagues? The reasons are the following:
Shortage of Scoring Goals
According to Mr. Agresti, Sanchez scored four goals in 30 appearances for Barca in the current season. ESPN FC reports that Sanchez scored one goal within 17 matches for Barca during the 2012-13 La Liga season.
During an interview with Marca.com (h/t Goal.com), Sanchez said that his problems with scoring affects him. Sanchez used the word “nervous” during the interview.
Real Madrid vs. FC Barcelona Copa Del Rey
Sanchez substituted for David Villa within 67 minutes of the match. The result was that Sanchez did not make any outstanding contribution for Barca in this crucial match.

According to the Chilean Online Magazine (written in Spanish) Cooperativo.cl, Sanchez may have been in attacking mode. The problem was that Sanchez was unable to prevent Real Madrid´s from counter attacking.
A New Beginning
Mr. Cartlidge, in his article, wrote that a new beginning at another club would be great for Sanchez. He thinks that Sanchez could work his way into matches.
According to Cartlidge, this could be done and Sanchez would be able to regain his form with good results. At the present time, it appears that Sanchez is trying too hard to please people at Barca with no results.
La Blaugrana will face Deportivo La Coruna Saturday and AC Milan next week. Regardless of the outcome, it appears that Sanchez’s time at Camp Nou is over.
The best that could happen for Sanchez and FC Barcelona is a parting of ways during the summer. The sooner this occurs, the better for the parties involved..
