As Hibbert and Lee were suspended for a game, Indiana's Lance Stephenson and Golden State's Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were each hit with $35,000 fines.
Hibbert seemed to feel a bit responsible, so he's stepping up and helping his teammate out.
Hibbert told The Indy Star that he's going to pay Lance Stephenson's $35K fine for being a good teammate and having his back.— Mike Wells (@MikeWellsNBA) February 27, 2013
The $35,000 would be roughly 0.2 percent of Hibbert's salary this season, compared to the 3.8 percent it would be of Lance Stephenson's sub-million dollar contract, so it is actually a very generous offer.
After Hibbert offered to pay Stephenson's fine, this officially became one of the most polite fights in the history of the NBA.
Not only is Hibbert going to have his teammate's back, but he's also admitted that his mother was a bit unhappy with him:
My mom was a little upset. She said I should have walked away.
As Hibbert's mom was chewing him out for letting his temper get the better of him, Klay Thompson's dad was busy docking his allowance.
I'm waiting for it to break that Stephen Curry has been grounded for a week and David Lee has to clean out the garage and the attic before they're allowed to go outside and play with their friends again.
