The Oklahoma City Thunder put their best defender on Ty Lawson to stop him from hitting a game-winning shot, but Thabo Sefolosha could do nothing to stop the point guard from giving the Denver Nuggets a 105-103 victory.
Lawson was just 5-of-14 with 11 points on the night, but he delivered when he needed to.
Up until the final shot, Wilson Chandler was Denver’s star, coming off the bench to score 35 points on 13-of-19 shooting. He was the primary reason that the Nuggets led the Thunder 71-11 in bench points.
Oklahoma City’s starters needed a big night, and Russell Westbrook answered the call with 38 points. Kevin Durant did not fare as well, contributing 25 points on 9-of-20 shooting, but he also added 14 rebounds.
The two stars kept the Thunder in the game, but Lawson ensured that their effort wasn’t enough on Friday night.
Player of the Game: Wilson Chandler
The Nuggets can get offense from so many different sources, and the team often just rides the hot hand.
That was definitely Chandler in this game, and it was rare to see him miss in this contest. He was 6-of-7 from beyond the arc, and that devastated the Thunder.
Chandler was the biggest difference-maker in this matchup.
