There are 33 days and counting until the NHL Trade Deadline on April 3 in this truncated season, and all eyes are fixated on this star-laden crop of targets.
It's been a few years since we've seen so many big names rumored to be moved, meaning the deadline should excite fans in a way it hasn't in recent memory.
One of the more interesting trade scenarios will play out in southern California, where the surprising Anaheim Ducks and general manager Bob Murray will receive copious calls for All-Star Corey Perry. The former Rocket Richard Trophy winner is an unrestricted free agent at season's end, along with captain Ryan Getzlaf.
Both will command max dollars, and the prevailing thought is that Anaheim won't be able to sign both superstars, considering they're also spending five-million plus on Bobby Ryan and will have to consider their strategy on the expiring contracts of the Finnish triumvirate of Teemu Selanne, Saku Koivu and Toni Lydman.
All three must be re-signed as well.
Perry will command at least a top-six forward and first-round pick, so the asking price is steep. However, at the same time, Murray might need to lower his asking price in order to save the franchise from being left empty-handed if the winger walks in free agency.
