Troubled Newcastle United will be looking to sign Manchester United's No. 3 keeper Ben Foster, to increase their goal keeping strength.

Newcastle havn't had any strength at the back since selling Shay Given to Manchester City. They only have one keeper who can compete at the top level and need someone to compete with Steve Harper next season, be it in the Premiership or Championship.

Sir Alex Ferguson does not wish to sell Foster, despite him being Manchester United's third choice keeper; ahead of him are Edwin Van Der Sar and Tomasz Kuzczak.

United boss is willing to let him go on loan next season, but only if Newcastle stay up.
