Well, the hits just keep on coming for Rey Mysterio

He has not only been working on a limited schedule for months now, but it also appears he will not be appearing at any advertised events prior to WrestleMania.

Sadly, Mysterio has been dealing with undisclosed family matters for a while now, and they don't appear to be ending anytime soon.

According to PWInsider.com:

Steven Fernandes noted last night that Rey Mysterio has been removed from all advertised appearances through WrestleMania on the WWE website. Mysterio was backstage at this week's TV Tapings, for what that is worth.

Ultimately, with WrestleMania season in full swing, the company needed to make this decision. The fact is, we are almost a month away from "The Granddaddy of Them All" and the WWE needs all high-profile hands on deck in order to make this event successful.

This is the main reason why The Rock, Chris Jericho and The Undertaker have been brought back into the fold. Let's face it, the WWE has a reputation of making WrestleMania a must-see event.  Overall, the company has made this pay-per-view the gold standard for all major wrestling events.

Unfortunately, Mysterio will probably be missing his second straight 'Mania, and who knows where he will stand after the big event? Keep in mind, the clock is ticking for Mysterio, who, at 38 years of age, has already been the recipient of at least five knee surgeries. Combine that with the fact that he has been a high-flier for his entire career, and one has to wonder how much he truly has left in the tank.

In the end, Mysterio has truly done it all in pro wrestling and has nothing left to prove. So hopefully he will take this time to reflect on his career and determine whether or not it makes sense to continue on.
