The Pittsburgh Steelers were more than $20 million over the projected salary cap at the start of the week. By the end of it, they should be a lot closer to being even. The team began clearing cap space by restructuring linebacker Lawrence Timmons' salary, according to a person informed of the salary juggle. The person, who spoke to USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because the terms weren't to be discussed publicly, said the team guaranteed a large portion of the $7.875 million Timmons was owed in total compensation.
