Congratulations, Auburn  fans—your team just signed one of most exciting running back prospects in the country, 5-star Racean Thomas.

Opelika-Auburn News reporter Ryan Wood had the news:

According to 247 Sports, the 5-star Thomas is the No. 30 recruit in the country, No. 4 running back prospect and No. 3 prospect from the state of Alabama.

At 5'11" and 195 pounds, Thomas already has the build of a running back at the next level. And he's very well-rounded as a runner, able to explode for long runs and also fight through tackles and earn extra yards.

ESPN Insider offered the following scouting report on Thomas:

Thomas is an explosive running back prospect with impressive production and big-play ability. A threat every time he touches the ball with his ability to both break and elude second level tacklers. Has a strong and compact frame with good power. A tough, scrappy back who runs with a chip on his shoulder. Lacks ideal load-back size but is muscular and built low to the ground and possesses a lot of pop to his frame.

His production at Oxford High is unquestioned. He rushed for 1,536 yards and scored 20 touchdowns in his sophomore season and added 1,768 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns during his junior campaign.

His highlight film is certainly fun to watch.

Thomas just looks like he's going to take it to the house on every run. One thing that really stood out to me on his highlight reel was his lateral quickness. He has the ability to stop on a dime, jump cut in every direction and make a defender look silly.

When you combine that with his knack for shedding tacklers and his excellent balance, you have all the makings of a playmaker at the next level.

It can often be hard to take a high school film and truly understand how a player will translate to the college game, but I think Thomas is going to be an absolute stud. Keep an eye out for this kid, he's got serious game.
