Robert Guerrero has wasted no time stoking the fire for his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The challenger went to Twitter to trash talk the unbeaten Mayweather:
As the saying goes, there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. This trash talk might be a rather ill-advised move for Guerrero. As Mayweather's 43-0 record suggests, he's got more than enough to make quick work of the American welterweight.
Guerrero will be a heavy underdog when the two boxers face off in Las Vegas on May 4.
It will be Mayweather's first fight since going to jail for domestic abuse, so he may be a little rusty. His last fight will have come almost a year to the day of his matchup with Guerrero. Mayweather won a unanimous decision against Miguel Cotto on May 5, 2012.
Hyping a fight is something generally left to the champion. Not one to only let his talent do the talking, Mayweather has built a reputation as one of the most polarizing fighters in the sport; his mouth moves almost as fast as his hands.
He will likely make his rebuttal very soon.
The braggadocio would be unbearable were Mayweather not one of the best boxers pound-for-pound on the planet.
While a top-ranked welterweight, Guerrero doesn't carry the star power of some of Mayweather's previous opponents.
Since most fans are only waiting for the superfight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, it's important that Guerrero presents himself as a major threat.
