WrestlingInc just posted an article featuring photos of The Undertaker returning to the ring for a house show that took place tonight. According to the article Damien Sandow and Wade Barrett took on Sheamus and The Undertaker. The article includes few other details but the fact The Undertaker is back in the ring is news-worthy enough as it is.
Shortly afterwards WWE confirmed the return via Tout, posting a video of The Undertaker's ring entrance. A video was also posted to YouTube but immediately deleted by WWE. While an appearance at a house show does not guarantee a wrestler is returning to the ring on television (New Age Outlaws have worked plenty of house shows recently but have not been seen on television at all), WWE would likely not tease the return of The Undertaker like this unless it was definitely happening. The disappointment to fans if he was not coming back would be too great.
Jim Ross has commented about Undertaker's return to the ring on his Twitter page, stating he is "completely surprised".
The rumour mill has been saying for months that The Undertaker will face CM Punk at WrestleMania. That looks far more likely now.
This has big implications for John Cena and The Rock, too. It was widely anticipated that if The Undertaker was unable to attend WrestleMania, CM Punk would continue to be a part of their battle for the WWE Championship resulting in a triple threat between Cena, Punk and Rock at the Showcase of the Immortals. CM Punk is due to face John Cena this Monday on Raw. If CM Punk wins the match, he gets to have John Cena's title shot against The Rock at WrestleMania. The Undertaker's decision about WrestleMania will heavily impact the outcome of that match I suspect and either during that match or immediately afterwards is when The Undertaker is most likely to make his televised return, if he is indeed returning to our screens.
Business just picked up for WWE.
