The No. 2-ranked Miami Hurricanes likely didn't anticipate their first loss in Atlantic Coast Conference play coming to a Wake Forest team under .500.
But that's what happened on Saturday afternoon, as the Demon Deacons pulled out a stunningly dominant 80-65 upset in Winston-Salem.
Senior guard C.J. Harris led the charge for the home squad, pouring in a game-high 23 points, which included nailing all five of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Overall, the Demon Deacons shot 54.2 percent in a stunning display of offensive efficiency, while the Hurricanes shot just 38 percent from the floor.
Jim Larranaga's bunch simply never got into any kind of offensive rhythm, and ESPN analyst Jay Bilas questioned some of the shots the 'Canes players chose to take:

Miami getting beat by Wake Forest. Poor shot selection and no patience by Miami, and Deacs playing strong and attacking Miami bigs.2/23/2013, 7:51:47 PM
The typically dynamic backcourt of Durand Scott and Shane Larkin had 17 and 13 points, respectively, for Miami, but they didn't get much help from the supporting cast. Rion Brown continued his troublesome 2012-13 campaign, making just one of his 10 shots.
Demon Deacon fans serenaded the Hurricanes with chants of "Overrated!"
Jorge Sedano, who typically covers the NBA's Miami Heat, felt compelled to chime in.

Really Wake Forest? Overrated Chant? 13-1 in the ACC. That's more wins than you have all season. @560WQAM #Canes2/23/2013, 7:56:58 PM
It was truly a shocking display from Miami, which did not play the stout defense it has grown accustomed to.
ESPN Stats and Info provided an incredible comparative statistic:

Wake improves to 12-14, and this will undoubtedly be the defining moment in what has been an otherwise forgettable season.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes drop to 22-4 and 13-1 in the ACC but should bounce back after yielding the most points in any game this year.
