The big news swarming around the world of professional wrestling is that TMZ reported that the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship—Jack Swagger—was recently arrested after leaving a SmackDown taping in Biloxi, Mississippi as a result of speeding. It didn't end there, though. Police found pot in his car, and he was also driving under the influence.
So, per WWE's substance abuse policy, Jack Swagger is slated for a 30-day suspension (if the WWE moves forward with any severe consequences). This would drastically damage his role in the World Heavyweight Championship picture, seeing how this is a brand new project for the WWE (his push and alliance with Zeb Colter, that is). WWE Creative needed every second to build Swagger because, as seen on Raw, both his "We the People" video and subsequent "State of the Union" Address flatlined.
With Swagger potentially out of the WHC picture, let's explore the options of suitable replacements.
Admittedly, the Big Show has surprised me with his last two feuds with Sheamus and Alberto Del Rio. I thought his feud with Sheamus would just be a throw-away angle. Instead, Big Show won the world title, and kept it for much longer than expected.
Although he eventually jobbed thrice to Albert Del Rio on SmackDown and two pay-per-views, the matches were still decent. So with his recent accolades, the WWE could always throw a stipulation such as a steel cage match at WM to squeeze a bit more out of the feud.
As I have said in a previous article a revived feud with ADR for Orton, even as a heel, would not be very interesting. However, at least it would be better than ADR and Jack Swagger, and it would satisfy all the people who continues to shout about a Randy Orton heel turn.
Also, it could give Orton some faces—namely Miz, Kofi Kingston, R-Truth, Ted DiBiase, Christian and Rey Mysterio—an opportunity to climb up the main event ladder.
Mark Henry has been nothing but impressive since his return, steamrolling through talent and showing a killer instinct like never before. A feud with the World Heavyweight Champion leading to WrestleMania would keep his momentum rolling, and could make him a top heel.
Even if he loses to ADR at WrestleMania, he could destroy him on the following SmackDown, and attack John Cena on the following Raw (who is now WWE Champion). This could start a fresh feud between John Cena and Mark Henry for a while.
