As always the rumour mill continues to swirl with teams like Barcelona.

The Blaugrana are coming off their worst performance of the season after losing 2-0 to Milan and are in real danger of getting knocked out of the Champions League.

Since the Pep Guardiola era began the weaknesses in the Barcelona side have been there for all to see, and they haven't been fixed.

The club has been linked to some big names this summer who could help solve those problem areas.

Players like Jack Wilshere and Sergio Ramos won't be included in this list.

While they've been touted as possible options or spoken of highly by current Barca players they haven't necessarily been linked to the club otherwise.

Click through to find out some of the biggest names linked to summer Barca move.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been linked (via Goal.com) with a move to Barcelona this summer.

His agent has since moved to dismiss such claims but such is the power of the rumour mill (via Goal.com).

Barcelona will continue to be linked to top goalkeepers as time progresses and the German definitely falls in that category.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper announced himself during the 2010/11 season and has continued his stellar play between the sticks.

Monchengladbach will do their best to keep hold of him, but a solid offer from Barcelona may see progress in this transfer saga.

David de Gea

According to the Express, Barcelona could face competition from Chelsea for David de Gea's signature.

The Spanish club has been linked to a plethora of goalkeepers since the news that Victor Valdes will leave the club.

Barcelona have firsthand experience of De Gea from his time with Atletico Madrid. With Valdes leaving they'll be keen to lock up a keeper with a long future ahead of him.

De Gea has had his ups and downs since joining Manchester United, but his recent display against Real Madrid silenced some doubters.

His long-term future at the club could still be questioned, and Barcelona will try to make the most of that.

David Luiz

Both the Daily Star and talkSPORT have earmarked Chelsea's David Luiz is a possible target for Barcelona this summer.

The uncertainty surrounding Eric Abidal's future and the continued ageing of Carles Puyol means attaining a central defender is a must for Barca.

Luiz's technical skills would see him fit in well with Barcelona, and the possibility of him learning from Puyol is a bonus.

The Brazilian can also play as a defensive midfielder if necessary, but he would certainly be brought in as a central defender first and foremost.

Thomas Vermaelen

According to the Mirror, Barcelona are interested in Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen.

La Blaugrana have picked up plenty of players from the London side in past seasons and may try to add Vermaelen to that list.

Vermaelen would certainly fill a need for the Spanish side but his recent performances for Arsenal haven't been the best.

Despite that, the Belgian defender has shown in the past that he has plenty of talent, and a move to Barcelona could see him return to his best.

Pepe Reina

According to the Daily Mail, Barcelona will try to re-sign former goalkeeper and current Liverpool star Pepe Reina in the summer.

Reina has moved to downplay such claims as seen on Sky Sports, but the rumours will certainly continue into the summer.

The Liverpool keeper is likely to join up with the Spain squad for the upcoming Confederations Cup and could be convinced by his Barcelona teammates to return.

With Liverpool currently unable to challenge for silverware, Reina could see the return to his former club as a good move for his career.

Mats Hummels

According to talkSPORT, Barcelona could battle it out with Manchester United for Mats Hummels signature.

The Borussia Dortmund star is one of the best defenders in Europe and most sides will face a tough task luring him away from Germany.

As stated here by Bleacher Report's own Xoel Cardenas, signing Hummels would be both good and bad for Barcelona.

Hummels, like any other quality defender, is an obvious need for the Spanish. His signing could have a detrimental effect on youngsters such as Marc Bartra and Marc Muniesa.

With Puyol ageing it wouldn't be silly of Barcelona to have one more specialist central defender to turn to when the legend hangs up his boots.

Neymar

Neymar's Brazilian teammate Dani Alves has reiterated his desire to see the Santos forward join him at Barcelona (via Sky Sports)

The International Business Times, with an original report from El Mundo Deportivo, asserts that members of the Barcelona hierarchy have made the decision to pursue Neymar this summer.

It has long been thought that Neymar would look to move to Europe after the 2014 World Cup.

A move to Europe would enhance Neymar's career and Barcelona are considered the front-runners for his signature.
