When the Avalanche made its blockbuster trade with Wednesday's opponent, the St. Louis Blues, in 2011, one of the justifications for parting with offensive defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk was the potential of prospects Tyson Barrie and Stefan Elliott.

While Shattenkirk has been piling up points for the Blues and helping them to winning records, Barrie and Elliott have largely gone unnoticed. That may be changing, though, especially in the case of Barrie.
