When the Oakland Athletics beat the Los Angeles Angels yesterday, it marked a historic night for young pitcher Nick Adenhart who earned a no decision. Adenhart pitched extremely well going six innings giving up seven hits, striking out five batters.

This morning, Adenhart was killed in a car crash in Fullerton, California when a driver of a red minivan blew a red light and hit a Mitsubishi carrying four people.

Three people were killed including Adenhart along with one person listed as seriously injured at a local area hospital.

Adenhart, 22 years of age, was coming off his fourth start in the Major Leagues. Adenhart was a highly touted prospect after being drafted right out of high school.

As of 12:00 EST, no decision had been made as to whether or not tonight's game between the Angels and Athletics will be postponed or not.

It is truly a shame that a 22-year-old kid is gone after just pitching the night before and this tragic event just goes to show us all how cruel life can really be.
