Fans awaiting David Beckham's French Ligue debut will have to wait a bit longer. David Kent of The Daily Mail has reported that new Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham will not participate in the club's Sunday clash with Sochaux.

PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti told The Daily Mail that the 37-year-old English star would stay at home and not make the trip for the team's road game. Beckham could make his PSG debut when the club hosts title competitor Marseille on Feb. 24.They will play Marseille again four days later in a French Cup game.

Beckham joined PSG on Jan. 29, signing a contract with the club and agreeing to donate all of his £1 million contract to a local children's charity (h/t BBC).

The midfielder hasn't played since December 2012, when he made his final appearance with the Los Angeles Galaxy in MLS.

Beckham joins PSG with the opportunity to capture an impressive fourth league title in four different countries.PSG currently holds a six-point advantage over Lyons and an eight-point lead against Marseille.

At 37 years old, Beckham isn't the player that he used to be, but he's still capable of contributing at a high level. He tallied seven goals and five assists in 29 games for the Galaxy last season.

Beckham has been training with the team for the last week, but fans of the club and Beckham will have to wait a while longer before seeing him back on the field. A debut against Marseille should be a much more anticipated affair than PSG's game against relegation-threatened Sochaux.
